Monte Carlo possesses three top gaits, and a powerful hind-leg movement, which places him in a league of his own and with a bright future ahead.

At the 2020 KWPN stallion licensing Blue Hors Monte Carlo convincingly made his way to the premium ring and stood out as the most powerful mover of the licensing. Monte Carlo was introduced to rider after the Dutch licensing, and Blue Hors took the opportunity to view him at van Uytert’s yard when he had only been under saddle a few times. Nevertheless, his great potential for the upper level shone through. Once again, at the Danish stallion licensing in Herning Blue Hors Monte Carlo found himself in the premium ring, and with the title of double Premium Stallion.

In continuation of the licensing the approved stallions were enrolled for the 10-day observation test where Monte Carlo earned very positive comments from the judges:

“Very willing to work, rideable and energetic stallion. His walk is energetic and with a clear beat. The trot is elastic, energetic and supple with good self-carriage and push off the ground. The canter is ground covering and elastic with good self-carriage”

For his KWPN performance test in 2020 he placed as no. 2 with the marks 9 for walk, 8,5 for trot, 9 for canter, 8,5 for suppleness, 8,5 for posture and balance, 8,5 for ridability and interior – as well as a 9 for capacity

In 2021, Monte Carlo became number 3 at the Danish Riding Federation’s championship final for 4-year-old dressage horses. His marks were 8.8 for trot, 8.5 for a nice and clean walk, 9 for a very good canter with a good ‘uphill’ tendency, 8.6 for rideability, 9 for capacity and a total score of 89.60 points. The judges especially pointed out the high capacity that will be completely unique to develop on in the future!

Monte Carlo‘s pedigree of Dream Boy – United – Jazz in combination with a strong damline does not leave much to be desired. His sire Dream Boy by Vivaldi/Ferro successfully competes in international Grand Prix with HansPeter Minderhoud. Damsire United is by Krack C/Partout, both of which has competed in international Grand Prix with Anky van Grunsven, and United himself has competed in Intermediaire, before an injury put an end to his career. His damsdamsire Jazz has competed in international Grand Prix with Tineke Bartels and Kirsten Beckers and is considered one of the world’s most influential sires in dressage horse breeding.

Monte Carlo is bred by the Dutch breeder W. Den Besten and is out of a super damline, which has produced Grand Prix horses like Murdock by BalzflugAnnette Ballerina by ScandicBolero by Johnson etc. as well as licensed stallions such as Joop TC by Ravel and Son De Niro by De Niro.

In terms of bloodlines, Monte Carlo represents a combination that I find exciting, and that is new on the Danish market”
– Martin Klavsen. breeding manager

Monte Carlo is linebred with the Dutch elite stallions Jazz and Krack C and therefore he is easily combined with most German and Danish lines, and at the same time Jazz is only found several generations back in his pedigree, so there is no problem combining him with mares that alread carry Jazz-blood.

Monte Carlo stands out with his very correct conformation and powerful gaits, and he is expected to match modern typed mares and to pass on his powerful movements.

“Monte Carlo’s superior strength is his functionality. I believe he will work well in combination with mares that have open frames and long lines, and I am sure that he will provide functionality”
– Martin Klavsen, Breeding Manager

The first crop of foals by Monte Carlo has shown an enormous potential with lots of action, shoulder freedom and power. They proved this worth at both Blue Hors Open House 2021 and Blue Hors Foal Evening 2021, where several Monte Carlo offspring were shown. Similar for all of them them, was their gait-capability and attractive attitude, that certainly bodes well for the future.

“We are facing some very exciting seasons, if all Monte Carlo’s offspring are like those we’ve met up until now”
 Martin Klavsen, breeding manager
